Volkswagen Repair
Step 4: this is the heater unit

Nothing is worse than having no heat on a cold winter day.

Worse yet, when a heater core fails, engine coolant may leak inside the car as the heater core is located behind the dash.

This is nothing the Geniuses at Orion can’t fix.

Like most foreign cars, Volkswagen heater core replacement involves removal of complete a/c-heater unit. The steering wheel, instrument cluster, radio, a/c control panel, and center console are removed. The complete dashboard is then removed from the vehicle. The a/c-heater unit is then removed from the vehicle and disassembled to expose heater core.

Here is the culprit. Engine coolant circulates through this mini radiator, sort of speak, to provide heat to the cabin.

Everything is then re-assembled, the coolant is filled and bled, a/c is evacuated and re-charged and all controls are checked and double checked to make sure everything works as it should. This Passat is ready for winter!
